Can someone explain why Percy took so much damage from one Level 26 gorgon tower. It’s a max level Percy with 7 Aphrodite houses so I’m just confused how gorgon damage is dealt and why he melted so fast is it because he was next to tower?

In fact gorgons are supposed to split dmg between all units I range and no its not based on percentage, so here he should have take maximum 400dmg but he took something like 700 000.
I saw same thing happening to my perseus 2 or 3 times, sadly I didn't send a review to the devs with the button (last time I did they didn't fix so I'm no sure they are enough to fix this kind of problems) did you?Comment

Its a very long standing problem that they wont fix for some reason. To clear any remaining confusion, Gorgons are most definitely supposed to split their damage evenly amoung any units in range. If you have a tower that deals 1000, with 9 hoplites and a hero in range, then each unit takes 100 damage - including the hero.
There is NO percentage based damage feature. If one of my heroes is hit, no matter which one or how much health they had, they will die. The only exception and known counter to this, that i am aware of, is the healing from Apollos temple. Though the damage always kills heroes in one hit, it ticks down at a constant rate, with enough healing-per-second sometimes they are able to outlast the petrification effect. If they get hit twice, they're screwed.
There is also No proximity based feature as mentioned in the comment above. Proximity has no effect on the damage a tower will deal to a hero, it just gives the illusion, because the likelihood they will be hit at all is increased.
But at anyrate its incredibly obnoxious, significantly degrades the effectiveness and balance of heroes, and they really need to fix it.Last edited by Crazy Uncle Oceanus; February 13, 2023, 08:19 PM.Comment

To really clear up the confusion:
HERE IS HOW THE GORGON TOWER ACTUALLY WORKS:
Phase 1: Kills anything that is considered a 'unit', starting at closest unit and going until farthest unit, until it runs out of power. It IS NOT 'evenly distributed damage' or percent, or anything. It just kills the closest unit, then the next closest unit, and keeps going, until there are no more units to be killed or it runs out of power. Note that gods (and towers) are not units, but heroes ARE units. If this phase touches the unit, it will die (after it turns to stone). There is no partial damage taken here. An important point is that if it a gorgon tower has 1000 strength, and there are two units with 999 health, it will kill them both. The first will reduce the gorgon tower power to 1, and with the 1 remaining power, it touches the next thing and kills it also. This is why a gorgon tower can kill a super buffed hero.
Phase 2: If and only if there is still power/strength/damage left to distribute, it will distribute that damage equally among gods. So if a tower still has 9999 strength remaining, and there are 3 gods within the gorgon tower range, each god will receive 3333 damage.
I think that the very reasonable complaint from Crazy Uncle Oceanus is really that heroes should not be in Phase 1, but instead in Phase 2. This won't happen in 4.9, because the very final touches are happening now, but it could certainly change in 5.0.
