  • Does anyone actually think that centaurs were a positive addition to the game at all?

Was really happy challenges got increased to 170, but the problem now it has this overpowered artificial trash countdown timer of centaurs.

Literally that's all centaurs are, just a timer on top of an already short timer. A unit that once charges ignores every unit around it (including Athena spawns etc) and will target a god from half way across a map. It's essentially a moving Perseus strike and artificial countdown to a loss if you do not take out pretty much every stable asap. It will charge with a ton of health at a fast speed that cannot be countered whatsoever unless it's killed which is usually unlikely at all before it hits you.

I missed when this game used to be really fun, had stragety to it, and a good formula. But centaurs just piss on everything. Regardless of small changes to shake the meta up every 6 months, they still do. I can't even remember the last time I wanted to play a normal match instead of just logging in for resources/challenges. And I used to attack constantly using thousands of gems.

If centaurs had their targetting changed to nearest spawn units first, especially during a charge. They *might* be appropriate. Not being some unstopable unblockable attack. The game was far better off without them, and I have not seen a single person ever say anything good about them in game or otherwise.

Apart from the centaurs... Perseus ruined the attacks as well ... he kills gods as soon as he is close to them... no matter if he was nerfed.. he is still a big killer. Theseus follows very close....

The above three together are a nightmare...

The game now, for me at least as solely UW, is how fast can I take out centaur barracks and academies before they utterly swarm me and end me.

You are correct that centaurs made daily challenges even harder which speaks volumes that though more balanced than when they were first released, centaurs are still too strong especially when compared to their spartan counterparts.

But. Let us not forget the toxic hero that is Atalanta being able to snipe and kill all gods except Athena in 5 seconds even with slow time 😍😍😍😍 😍

Defense doesnt need nerfs haha. Offense > Defense always if looking at the trophy difference. But for the daily, I guess it might mean you need to level up more til you can pass that halt? I personally not having any problems and im not that high level (119). I just artemis long shot into middle. And slowtime is plenty of time to destroy it all with the normal 5. Otherwise for the ones on outside, its just running with hermes, athena, zeus, and poseidon. Then regroup where needed, and the center can be taken with hera and the others. (as she will wipe out the pilled up centeurs)

The balance of the game is in an atrocious state that deprives it of the possibility of strategy. Defense is so strong with three heros, worst of which is Perseus, and centaurs buffed with houses. However offense is pathetically strong as well, with Hermes being the UW Hades version for the OW, just as you can't realistically hope to win without the core of Hades requiem, you can't hope to win without Hermes Hasting the gods around the perimeter of the base while the gods shoot long range attacks at it and slowly break it down, or the prerequisite Regroup. While it may sound like this is a perfect situation, overly powerful gods, overly powerful defenses, a match made in heaven, it's actually not. It's two nuclear armed powers lobbing nukes at one another, there's no strategy in that. Tone down the defenses, tone down the offenses, remove the nukes and allow for grudge matches where the fate of the battle is difficult to call and where the tide of the battle waxes and wanes through most of it. I'd start doing battles again in that situation. Right now like Kupo I simply log in to collect resources, do dailys and weeklies for resources, and watch replays of people attacking my base.

And in those replays it's always either the attacker using requiem to get in all the troops and destroy my base within seconds... Or My Perseus killing all the gods of trapped anywhere near him... A few occurances when Paris is being extraordinarily annoying and a few when Hera patron takes down 1/4th of the base while being the last remaining god...

Since bloody stupid centaurs were added to challenges, I've actually had to stop doing some that I even used to be able to do at lower levels.

****ing Charon with centaurs is just stupid as hell and UW can't even do anything now against any tower based which would already annihilate troops before they got close but now can't defend against because of these bloody things.

I have never played a game that is so out of touch with its playerbase and itself. It's like it's become for those who only know everything inside out and want a damn chore to play and is masochistic

Centaurs should have been on par with basic barracks/archers as the third triangle built on a speedy unit that's weak. Not make it the ONLY friggin viable choice at defense against anything.

Regarding the daily challenges, I must agree with Kupo. I was one of those who asked for more levels in daily challenges and also for the addition of centaurs. However, the extreme use of the latter has made some daily challenges impossible. We are now finding it difficult to get to the level previously reached without centaurs.

As Kupo rightly pointed out, the centaurs in the tower based cities of the uw have made the levels impossible and extremely tedious. In some dailies, specifically charon I believe the centaurs actually helped a bit. But in the other ones... alecto and tisiphone for example... the rounds can only be won by very high levels with overpowered gods.

In olympus cities, I found the use of centaurs in some dailies quite extreme. Athena, Zeus, artemis, apollo.... all difficult cities before addition of centaurs.. now they are too much. I mean, yeah add some centaurs but do not cover the whole map with them, especially in daily challenges which were already over powered.

Please devs... can the centaurs be used a bit moderately.... as it is, people will start not doing the daily challenges as well!

Each centaur academy (or Spartan academy) that gets added in a daily challenge generally removes about 3 other 'basic' academies. So the same level base with centaurs instead of other barracks are going to be quite a bit smaller in terms of size. Especially if there are a lot. At the previous very highest levels, the bases were already map filled. So on the new levels, because you can't 'build out' anymore, it starts 'building up' more. It spends more heavily on expensive buildings (Spartans, and Centaurs but also more expensive towers like gorgons as well), simply because it needs a way to extinguish more cash in the same amount of land area.

7 barracks/archery ranges are about equal to 1 centaur stable. That is how ridiculously op, unfun, and game breaking they are.

That's not overstating it at all. They're just an artificial timer that you can't defend or do anything about. Least of all melee gods who will take heavy damage regardless. While vsing 7 barracks/archery ranges, at least you have a chance to defend against, and actually kill some before they even reach you.

You guys seriously need take a step back and consider how bad Centaurs are if so many players don't find it fun anymore, and now cannot even do challenges like they used to.

Sorry, I disagree that 1 centaur stable is the same as 7 non-upgrades. It is an easy test. Sell off all your academies and archery ranges and for every 7 you sell replace with one stable (and do not spend the extra money that you will have). Watch your trophies fall.

That said, I think there is certainly an argument that it is > 3, especially based on the current patrons mostly in use...

Even i would back that one stable = 3 basic academies, after a few recent resells and conversions
