Why the treasury?

Why introduce something which only further provides a means of obtaining resources without battling? Perhaps it pushes some to become paying players, but at this point it just further kills the game, is this another final cash out for the developers who seem to have just accepted to allow the game to die? Im lvl 80 and been attacked once in the past week, a revenge, despite my attacking around 12 times a day. I've lost my enthusiasm for battling at this point because whats the point in earning stone, designing a base, that never gets attacked?

yeah, the few times i havent played for a day or two I have noticed I get attacked more, it's like an algorithm to try to keep players who appear to have waning interest re-committed, and I suppose with so few players attacking they have to sparingly direct those attacks at active players who have become idle. I miss being under level 60, where I would get attacked multiple times a day. I'm guessing based on seeing players in my clan that people play a ton, enjoy the game, then they reach lvl 60 or thereabouts and the battles become longer and harder, base design becomes a chore given the UI for it sucks, and they just stop bothering to play.
