How do I transfer the resources I use from Hercules to my new hero Odysseus?

I think there should be a way to transfer resources to your newly bought hero. It's discouraging me from spending. Also, if I sell my hero academy, does my level or experience points go down?
I would really hope so. I don't want to get handicapped from selling buildings in an attempt to use resources to level my new hero.

Anytime you select a different hero, they keep the same stats as the previous hero. You only have to level up one hero per academy. If you sell the building, all invested resources used to level up will be returned to the resources bank.
