Yeah the mechanics of the Kraken are pretty obscure for such a staple skill. The kraken attacks based on an algorithm that uses mostly damage. Lower health buildings have a higher chance to get hit than strong ones.
As seaweed points out temples are rarely hit, this is because they are usually your strongest buildings. If you happen to have low health temples relative to your buildings, you would see them hit more.
Both the tentacles and the head are completely invincible, hits taken are not a factor on duration.
IIRC each tentacle inflicts 4 hits to the adjacent buildings surrounding every structure they destroy. These hits will of course be for the small value listed under the skills primary damage. I do not believe this damage is factored into the main value, so this bonus naturally adds up quickly in compact cities.
Though it is slight, the position of Poseidon himself has an effect on the spawning location. The RNG algorithm is tweaked to strike things close to the god more often.Last edited by Crazy Uncle Oceanus; February 2, 2022, 12:41 PM.👍 1Comment

I was less sure on how Gorgon towers react, so thank you Seaweed for that!👍 1Comment

Yes, it is an additional bonus of the kraken. Its intentional and designed so that it will also provide your gods with a distraction from troops and turrets. Heroes will ignore them, with the recent exception of the Minotaur. For some reason he will target the Kraken with his Charge skill, but otherwise he will ignore.
