  • [Hot Topic] [Information for New Players] Ability Functionality

In the past, I frequently found myself assisting players that consistently misused their god abilities to the point that it felt excruciating. Although this has been resolved in my alliance, it is still definitely a problem in newer alliances and/or for new players. I would like to suggest that the ability tooltips get updated to represent their respective functionality rather than simply having a rough description of what the ability does. I propose something like the following although more refined:

    Zeus:
    Role: Tank, Crowd Control, Support
    Mostly useful in: Either

    Chain Lightning: Anti-minion
    Lightning Storm: Anti-structure

    Slow Time: Defensive steroid (global)

    Athena:
    Role: Tank, Support
    Mostly useful in: Push

    Summon Hoplites: Support ability, Decoy
    Aegis: Defensive steroid (personal)

Inspiration: Defensive & Offensive steroid (global)

    Ares:
    Role: Damage Dealer, Crowd Control
    Mostly useful in: Burst

    Whirlwind Attack: Anti-minion
    Battle Charge: Anti-structure

    Bloodlust: Offensive steroid (personal)

    Artemis:
    Role: Damage Dealer, Crowd Control
    Mostly useful in: Burst

    Spread Shot: Offensive steroid (personal)
    Long Shot: Anti-structure

    Hawk Storm: Crowd Control

    Apollo:
    Role: Damage Dealer, Support
    Mostly useful in: Either

    Flaming Arrows: Offensive steroid (personal)
    Sun Strike: Anti-structure

    Healing Rays: Support ability (global)

    Aphrodite:
    Role: Crowd Control
    Mostly useful in: Push

    Charm Units: Anti-minion, Decoy
    Charm Buildings: Anti-structure

Awe: Defensive & Offensive steroid (personal)

    Hades:
    Roles: Crowd Control, Tank
    Mostly useful in: Push

    Reanimate: Anti-minion, Decoy
    Rot: Anti-structure

    Summon Cerberus: Decoy

Nice post Celestus ! The only things, is that i think that athena is more helpful for burst strats that for push, as she tanks she absorbs all the damage of the base, so it definitely helps, but, in other way she is also good in both. Also, artemis is good at both strats (burst and push), for push i always see ppl using the spreadshot to kill troops and at the same time to destroy multiple structures. And for burst is also good, for me shes very useful at the end of the battle, her longshot is important to destroy at least 1-2 temples. Finally, i would also say aphro is good for both strats, because of her awe, that is just AWEsome (see what i did there? Yea you did lol) And plus the charm building is just clutch. so in conclusion:
athena, artemis, and aphro are good for both strats. Nice post!

I never really said that those three don't have a place in burst. I said "mostly useful for".

I agree with Jimmy, burst is impossible without Athena - control is painful without Athena, but it's doable whereas Ares and Zeus would get absolutely destroyed at the start of burst without Athena to shield them. On the other hand, I'd say Artemis is much more useful for control than burst. You can do burst without Artemis but control is at a huge disadvantage of Artemis dies early because it's hard to kill anything.

I think Artemis is essential for both strategies, I know I couldn't complete my strategy without Artemis, for me she is essential and if I lose her early on then I have no chance, whereas my other gods I can cope without bar Athena who will never die early as I maxed her health

Haha, well, from what i have saw, ares is definitely better for burst. Hades is more for push. And yeah, aphro is awesome in both strats.

I really don't get why you are saying that Aphro is great for burst. Are you confusing burst with hybrid?

Nothing that Aphro can do is instant damage. All of it is damage over time. Damage over time = push. Instant big hits = burst.

Ok, after all my gods have died (except of aphro), i drop her next to the last temple, use awe, then charm building (for fire towers and ballistas), and then just hit the temple. Shes clutch

Burst doesn't mean eveything gets killed by Zeus/Ares/Athena. All good burst players have 2-3 "finishers" to clean up the final temples if needed, which are typically some combination of Aphrodite, Artemis, and/or Hades. Aphrodite is the best finisher, since Awe guarantees her a temple kill as long as the Athena and Apollo temples were knocked out by the main burst - so yes, Aphrodite is very critical to burst, especially now.

Aphrodite is a must have for the burst strategy, she is essential for cleaning up.
