[Featured] Attacking Advices for New Players

I have been playing Gods of Olympus for 7 months already and i feel like i have to share my best tips for the new players that will join the game, specially for the Android ones, but maybe this can also help a veteran player that is losing some attacks, So i will start with the most basic things:

1. The goal of attacking in GoO is to destroy ALL THE TEMPLES of the base you are attacking, if you miss one at the end of the battle that is it, you lost. There is no need to destroy EVERY SINGLE BUILDING in the base, that won't affect in any way the final loot you will get at the end of the battle. But you do can destroy them all if you want, totally up to you
2. You MUST know what you are going to do in the attack. When you attack there are 2 major strategies that are used in GoO, from this 2 strategies some players have made others, but this 2 are the ones you will see the MOST.
   • Burst:This strategy consists of using Ares, Zeus, Athena, Apollo, and Hades usually to go from outside the base and destroy ONLY THE TEMPLES inside, this strategy is very risky and difficult to use until you get used to it, but is probably the most fun and fastest of all. From Burst you can also get the Hybrid Burst (product of a combination between Burst and doing a hole with Artemis to get inside the base easier than doing the other way) that is very effective too, but only at high levels IMO. I would definitely recommend the normal Burst for Low-Mid Players, and the Hybrid Burst for High-Very High Players).
   • Slow Push:Slow Push needs Aphrodite, Hades, Athena, Artemis, and any other god here to make A HORDE of units ( hoplites & archers ), with this horde you will be able to destroy THE ENTIRE base if you do it correctly. So, the goal in resume is to make use of Aphrodite's charm unit, Athena's Summon Hoplites, Hades's Reanimation, Artemis's Spreadshot, and helpers from your alliance to over populate the number of units defending the base. Using the abilities i mentioned above in the correct time will be equal to a total DESTRUCTION of the base. IMO, this is the most effective strategy in the game that will let you win against higher level players than you easily, OP.

3. Now, before going to attack my third advice would be to ONLY spend your beautiful GOLD in the abilities you are going to use in-battle, there is no sense in investing in abilities you are not going to use (e.g Cerberus for Burst, plz dont make the same mistake i made lmao). The level of your gods does not influences on the difficulty of the attack.
4. Next up is to make use of your first 30 seconds in-battle to ANALYZE every detail of the base (specially at high-very high level players).Don't waste your time eating cheetos as Jay does nor drop your gods randomly thinking you are definitely going to win. CHECK position of every temple (maybe one is outside the base in the edge of the map...), check where you are going to drop your gods, check if there are any defenders or people assisting you, etc. Check every detail possible in your first 30 secs of battle
5. After you have checked all the possible details, my BEST SUGGESTION is to first go to destroy the Athena's temple, even if you are playing burst, slow push, etc. ALWAYS try to destroy the Athena's temple first, Now that you are asking: "Why should i Jimmmy?", easy answer: Athena's temple gives out a health bonus to all structures, so when you destroy it the bonus goes out and structures are easier to destroy, plus if the base has Athena`s houses (that every high-very high base do) when you get to destroy the Athena`s temple automatically all the blue / Athena`s Houses make boom.
6. Once blue houses have vanished your next goal should be to destroy Apollo`s temple, the yellow one. Because this yellow temple REGENARATES THE HEALTH of the other buildings. So, if you are trying to take any other temple down and Apollo's one is still alive then it will be more difficult, challenging and sometimes impossible to destroy it while the frustating Apollo houses regenarates its health. That is the main reason why it should be your next target
7. Then, the next temples are totally up to you, you can go towards the closest one or maybe you can try to destroy the 100% of the base. Try to check the time you got left and take the option you want, BUT NEVER!!! think the battle is over until you see the "Victory" screen... hehe
8. This tip is after-battle: Every time you get attacked, check if you are able to revenge him, if you are then tap the name of that player, select "Visit" and see if you can actually beat his base. Less Nectar and same amount of resources!

Well, those are my best advices for the new players that will be joining the game, hope it helps!

I would agree with you to almost always go for Athena first but I never go for Apollo second

i would change instead of always going for Apollo first I always do a simple check to see which temple has the greatest buff/most houses... If none has an overwhelming amount comparatively I go for ares or arrives temple whichever is closes to athena, and tbh I usually go for either of those 2 first because with one long shot/sun strike/battlecharge combo
I can usually take it out because it's not as heavily protected as athena

then if I'm bursting I just go nuts after that, if I'm slow pushing I simply follow the lap whichever temple is next

also I always revenge anyways, it's basically free resources... If you win great if you don't you lose however many trophies usually a small ammount because they chose easy but the resources is worth the hit in the long run

True, but as i at the end always go with artemis long shooting everything i rather destroy the apollo one so i dont have any problem...

Depending on your level long shot and the temples level best to take out Zeus second then you can one shot the temples, but it's impossible at my level and above because temples are usually maxed

For that just use the longshot + sun strike, use it until they nerf it...

Why would they need it? They just need to raise the health limit of temples and it's countered

Yeah good suggestion. But maybe this would make defenses a lot more stronger, plus the recent changes of the latests updates...

I can add to your advice that there is not a principal strategy of success.
I can make a big advantage out of knowing that Apollo temple is the main target. I have built up my village in the early days using this and made Apollo a strong temple. Attackers where standing in front of Apollo quite long time. To make this an advantage I used Ares houses and Artemis houses with towers in the backyard. This was very effective.
For this reason a general manual of attacking is difficult to advice.y

It seems like the community's overall experience has grown in the last months. I rarely see anyone crash hard on Apollo heal houses any more.

I mean, they still do occasionally but not because they are ignorant. When they fail on them is because they don't have the dps which is perfectly normal.

about the apollo temple, first: apollo temple + apollo houses used to be the best counter to every type of strategy BEFORE apollo houses got nerfed. Atm, i dont feel like theyre the same as before, and at the level i am i would rather put athena houses than apollo ones, but i will never forget how good they used to be and how many battles i won with that layout haha.

Yes the nerd to Apollo houses made me forget about them, I have one Apollo house atm sometimes I'll have 2 or 3 but they aren't as good as other houses now imo

Same, im actually protecting my main temples (apollo and athena) with 9 athenas houses and 3 apollos ones. Even if theyre nerfed they still can help a bit

I've always found Athena to be the strongest core, both bursters and pushers have to take it out if used properly... For burst it gives enough health to temple to screw you over and push it gives enough health to slow a slow pusher it's the only other help hoplites and archers have against beating charm

Agreed, totally why i put athena before apollo one.
